Saratoga County District Attorney Karen A. Heggen announces that James A. Duffy, of Johnstown, New York plead guilty today in Saratoga County Court to Murder in the Second Degree, a “Class A-I” felony, in violation of New York State Penal Law section 125.25(1) for his role in the murder on October 28, 2019 of Allyzibeth A. Lamont of Gloversville before Saratoga County Court Judge James A. Murphy, III. 

Lamont went missing from her job at the Local 9 Deli in Johnstown, New York on October 28, 2019.  An extensive investigation into her disappearance was conducted by multiple law enforcement agencies.  She was found deceased in the Saratoga County Town of Malta on October 31, 2019.

Duffy will be sentenced on July 15, 2021 at 9:30 am.  The case against his co-defendant, Georgios Kakavelos is scheduled for trial in the Saratoga County Court on May 10, 2021.  There will be no further comment at this time from the Saratoga County District Attorney’s Office.
