Saratoga County District Attorney Karen A. Heggen announced today that Isaiah Whitehurst, dob 8/28/82, of Brooklyn, NY, was sentenced to 8 years incarceration in a state correctional facility plus 3 years post-release supervision by Saratoga County Court Judge James A. Murphy, III for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, in violation of New York State Penal Law Section 220.16(3), a “B” felony, for drug dealing activities that took place on December 1, 2022 in the Town of Northumberland, Saratoga County.  Whitehurst was arrested as part of an investigation into drug dealing activities taking place at a residence in Gansevoort after a search warrant was executed, which showed he had more than 200 grams of cocaine in his possession.  The sentence also included a forfeiture of $4,285 in drug money in his possession at the time of arrest.

DA Heggen stated, “Defendant Whitehurst is from New York City, but had friends in the Northern Saratoga/Glens Falls area.  He would connect with these friends and sell drugs to area addicts, preying on their addiction.  Little did the defendant know that the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit was monitoring activities about drug houses through tips and other investigative techniques.  This arrest and conviction demonstrates the commitment and resolve of our office to hold drug dealers accountable for preying on vulnerable people addicted to drugs.”

DA Heggen praised the work of the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Narcotics team for their detailed and thorough investigation. The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Jesse Ashdown.
