Ryan M. Jewett (DOB 04/14/1992), of Mechanicville, NY pleaded guilty in Saratoga County Court before Saratoga County Court Judge James A. Murphy, III on April 19, 2024 to one count of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child, in violation of New York State Penal Law Section 130.75, a “Class B” violent felony and one count of Rape in the Second Degree, in violation of NYS Penal Law Section 130.30(1), a “Class D” violent felony.  It is anticipated he will be sentenced to a term of 29 years in a state correctional facility, to be followed by 20 years of post-release supervision, and mandatory sex offender registration.

The investigation by the Mechanicville Police Department revealed that Defendant Jewett had contact with the child victim from the age of 9.  The investigation further revealed that the child victim courageously disclosed to the authorities the details of the abuse perpetrated by the Defendant.  Among the evidence discovered during the investigation was digital evidence created by the Defendant documenting his abuse of the child, which assisted in securing the defendant’s pleas.

The Defendant is also currently charged with Patronizing a Prostitute and Possession of a Sexual Performance by a Child in Albany County Court for allegedly soliciting a 13-year-old to engage in sexual conduct with him for money and is alleged to have possessed numerous images of child pornography on his cellular phone.

“Obtaining a plea in this type of case is significant for all involved- especially the victim in the case” noted District Attorney Karen Heggen.  “The thorough and dedicated efforts of  Det. Sgt. Alexander Dunn and Chief William Rabbitt of the Mechanicville Police Department enabled the victim and the victim’s family to achieve justice in this matter”.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Meghan A. Horton and Andreanna Diliberto with the assistance and support of District Attorney’s Office Investigator Joseph Iwaniec.
